Wild Crew Returns to the Wetlands
We have already had our first Wild Crew outing. Thanks to our School Programme sponsors we had 10 sponsored children (last year we had 8), and in total 27 children attended, including a Varsity conservation student who turned down a lift and walked from The Sheds to the Wetlands. To her absolute delight she discovered a rare Grass Owl on her way.
Despite the overcast weather the children rolled up their pants, took off their shoes and embraced the water while they discovered crabs, bugs, tiny little fish, damselfly nymphs, pond skaters and a host of other aquatic life. Water quality was tested (and passed with flying colours) and in all the excitement we do believe we managed to get the message across that our wetlands are precious, critical to our wellbeing and well worth taking care of!
