Our first event of the year was a snare walk in January. To our delight we found not a single snare. Our February snare walk on the Egoli Granite Grassland offsets, where we had always found most of our snares, also netted nothing! This is excellent news, and we are hoping that this is a sign that our years of persistent searching for and removal of snares is now finally paying off.

This gives us the opportunity to check new areas in the CRR for snaring activity. We will however continue to check the ‘old haunts’ regularly to make sure these areas remain snare free.
