Getting to know owls with Sara Orchardson on Sunday the 17th of November
Our last environmental awareness event for 2024 will focus on the beautiful and mystical birds that are featured in everything from children’s books to ornaments and art. They have been a part of our history and culture for hundreds of years and seen as symbols of wisdom, protection, darkness, power, justice and divinity. It would be impossible to consider a world without Owls.
But what is their role environmentally and how does their existence benefit the world and us? What makes them special and are they under threat?
These questions will be answered by Sara Orchardson of EcoSolutions. Sara started working at EcoSolutions in 2016 as a junior ecologist. She completed her degree in Environmental Management and Zoology at the University of Johannesburg in 2011 and completed her honours in Zoology in 2012. In 2019, Sara attended and presented at the World Owl Conference held in Pune, India. Sara also volunteers for the NPO owlproject.org and educated kids abouts the importance of owls.
As you can see there are few people better qualified to tell us all about these fascinating birds of prey and answer any questions you might have.
