SUMMARY:EAE Grasses Walk & Talk
DESCRIPTION:Grasses Walk & Talk Sunday the 22nd of March Walking through African grasslands\, with blue skies above and the feel of the sun on your skin brings about a wonderful feeling of peace and wellbeing\, but what makes up this remarkable biome? When you see a field of grass blowing gently in the breeze you are not seeing only one type of plant\, nor is there only one type of ecosystem. \nThe CRR is home to two grassland ecosystems\, The Egoli Granite Grasslands and the Carletonville Dolomite Grasslands. A very specific group of Flora is found in each. Studies suggest there are over 582 different plant species in the critically endangered Egoli Granite grassland alone. One is under severe threat and the other ‘of least concern’\, but here in the CRR both are an integral part of what makes us unique and special. \nJoin our Grasses Walk & Talk on Sunday the 22nd of March with experienced FGASA guide Karin Spottiswoode and learn all about these different ecosystems\, and spend some truly quality time in the outdoors! \nDate: Sunday 22nd March 2026\nTime: 8h30am to 11h30\nCost: R95.00 per adult and R45.00 per child under 12\nPlace: The Sheds @ Birdsong\, Gemstones Road (off the R511) Crocodile River Reserve\nWear comfortable walking shoes\, sunscreen and a hat\, and if you have any questions please drop us an email at events@crocodileriverreserve.co.za \n\n(You will be redirected to our CRR Page on Quicket to book your spot)

SUMMARY:Insect Walk & Talk
DESCRIPTION:Size really isn’t everything in the Insect world! \n  \nAs small as they are\, they play a crucial role in the environment and as such in our lives. With over a million species that we know of\, and many more yet to be discovered\, you can be sure that there will be something about insects that you will find either fascinating\, creepy\, awe-inspiring or just plain unbelievable! \n  \nDid you know: \n  \nThe smallest insect in the world measures between 0.13mm and 1mm in length. \n  \nThe assassin bug liquefies its prey’s insides with a venomous sting. \n  \nThe humble grasshopper has ears on its abdomen and has been around for over 250 million years. \n  \nThey are the drivers of our ecosystems because they pollinate plants\, they improve soil fertility\, decompose organic waste and are vital to the production of more than a third of our food crops\, and that isn’t all…. \n  \nCuriosity piqued? Join our Insect Walk & Talk on Sunday the 1st March\, with entomologist Kayla Noeth. Kayla has a PhD in Entomology and has academic training spanning forestry\, medical entomology and agriculture. Insects and the role they play in our ecosystems is her passion. She currently works as a research coordinator in the macadamia industry supporting agricultural research and risk mitigation initiatives. \n  \nDate: Sunday 1st March 2026\nTime: 8h30am to 11h30\nCost: R95.00 per adult and R45.00 per child under 12\nPlace: The Sheds @ Birdsong\, Gemstones Road (off the R511) Crocodile River Reserve\n  \nWear comfortable walking shoes\, sunscreen and a hat\, and if you have any questions please drop us an email at events@crocodileriverreserve.co.za \n\n(You will be redirected to our CRR Page on Quicket to book your spot)
