SUMMARY:Birds of the Crocodile River Reserve
DESCRIPTION:“What wild creature is more accessible to our eyes and ears\, as close to us and everyone in the world\, as universal as a bird?” \nSir David Attenborough. \nJoin us on Sunday the 23rd of August when Justin Henry\, Vulture Project Manager at Birdlife SA\, will be speaking about the birds of the Crocodile River Reserve. \nOccupying the transition between the grassland and savanna biomes\, the diversity in habitats supports an impressive bird list of 255 recorded species. From expansive grasslands\, rocky slopes\, wetlands and wooded koppies\, the Reserve is a host for specials such as the African Grass Owl\, Orange River Francolin and Crimson- breasted shrike. \nCome and learn about the birds that call the Crocodile River Reserve home\, and those that visit at different times of the year. Whether you are a seasoned twitcher or just getting into birds\, this talk will cover bird identification\, mobile apps\, the importance of citizen science\, and much more! \nSpecial mention will be made on the status of the country’s vultures\, a highly threatened bird group\, and the work being done to mitigate the threats they face. \nThis fascinating talk will be taking place at the Four Wheel Drive Club of SA\, 50 Gemstone Road (off the R511) on Sunday the 23rd \, 9h00 to 11h00. The cost is R95 per adult and R45 per child. \nQueries can be sent to events@crocodileriverreserve.co.za \nThis is your chance to get out of the city\, and learn all about the fascinating lives of our avian companions. \n\n(You will be redirected to our CRR Page on Quicket to book your spot)
