Become part of a passionate group of people leading conservation action in the Reserve

What is a Friend of the Reserve?

You (or your business) can support the work we do by becoming a Friend of the Crocodile River Reserve, an association of people committed to protect the conservation of this unique “green area” between the Cities of Tshwane and Johannesburg.

It is the last remains of a wide area where nature can be enjoyed, people can become agents of conservation, protect our biodiversity, enjoy birdwatching, walk in protected paths, ride mountain bicycles, and learn about our biodiversity from qualified experts… in other words, leave the crowded cities and become absorbed by the beauty of our nature.

Becoming a Friend also means that you can help sustain and support the CRR’s natural and cultural assets… as well as ensure a sound management of the challenges in the protection of a Nature Reserve.

Poaching is a huge challenge…and removing the many snares that are set to trap our free roaming wildlife is a must. You, with your friends and children, may join our regular Snare Walks, a day outing in this beautiful natural landscape.

Removing alien invasive plants each year is a massive task and we need help from our Friends to ensure that our endemic grasses and plant species are not choked out by these invaders.

Environmental education is an important activity that we do with several programmes for all ages of visitors. For example, the Environmental Education Programme fits with the School Curriculum at all Grades and is run by a qualified Environmental Educator. The Walks and Talks are regular outings for families, managed by renowned experts on particular elements of our biodiversity.

With all the amazing fauna and flora we have, we want to establish places where our visitors of any age can relax and enjoy the biodiversity, the sunsets and the pleasing landscapes. Friends can certainly help to plan and create these relaxing spots.

Ideas! Innovation! Guidance! Expertise! That is what we need from our Friends of the Reserve. Join us in our endeavours. Become a Friend!
