We, as humans, have learnt a lot from these remarkable feathered animals. We must credit them for advancements made in flight, high-speed trains and drones. They also do a lot for our natural ecosystems – which in turn benefits us. They are pollinators, seed disperses and natural pest controllers amongst other things. Moreover, they are beautiful to watch and to listen too. It stands to reason then that we should take the time to get to know them and encourage that interest and appreciation in our children.
Even if there is a fear factor, few things are as fascinating to a child as creepy crawlies; spiders, millipeds and even scorpions, there are just so many out there and each one has its own awesome characteristics.
