The Wild Crew – Seeds
Our second CRR Wild Crew outing was just as delightful as the first, with a wonderful turnout.
In addition to those who had booked in advance, a full minibus from the Laezonia Settlement was able to join us, thanks to our very generous sponsors.
We saw so much on our Nature Walk that we actually ran out of time and had to turn back early—lest we miss out on the other planned activities. Of course, there had to be a little time left simply to play and enjoy being outdoors.
Although the focus for this outing was seeds—particularly grasses—the rich biodiversity of the grasslands meant we discovered all sorts of interesting things along the way. We came across beautiful flowers, unusual plants, butterflies, grasshoppers, and other fascinating creepy crawlies that demanded our attention.
The age groups were as diverse as the veld itself. Some children created wonderfully imaginative posters, others examined their finds under microscopes, and the little ones hopped on scooters the moment they finished their masterpieces. Even the parents joined in the fun.
All in all, it was a truly joyful morning—one where nature was given her due, and everyone went home having learned something new.
